About this beach
Miami-Dade County bought this land in 1940 and opened it to the public in 1948; it's now the largest stretch of undeveloped beachfront left in the county. The north end has been clothing-optional since 1991, and the rest keeps restored dunes and palm-shaded picnic areas.
