About this beach
A very narrow barrier island, never more than three-quarters of a mile wide and sometimes as little as 500 feet, with just three public beaches (Midtown Beach, Phipps Ocean Park, and R.G. Kreusler Park); everything else is private beach attached to the mansions. Erosion is a real issue: a 1991 storm destroyed about 1,200 feet of seawall near Worth Avenue.
